CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.– Former Tom Sox pitcherTrey Yesavageis headed to the show!

Toronto Blue Jays manager John Schnieder announced on Sunday that Yesavage will start Toronto’s game on Monday against the Tampa Bay Rays, meaning that Yesavage’s major league debut will come just 14 months after being selected with the 20th overall pick in the 2024 MLB Draft.

Yesavage is the No. 1 prospect in the Blue Jays system and the 25th overall prospect in baseball according to MLB Pipeline.

The 22-year-old right-hander zoomed through the minor leagues, pitching at four levels of Toronto’s system just this year. Across 25 appearances (22 starts) this season, Yesavage held a 3.12 ERA in 98 innings with 160 strikeouts. He also held opponents to a .158 batting average and had a 3.9 strikeout to walk ratio.

This kind of dominance has followed Yesavage throughout his entire career. In three seasons at East Carolina, Yesavage fired in a 2.58 ERA over 195.1 innings, helping guide the Pirates to three NCAA Regionals, and the 2022 Greenville Super Regional. In 2024, Yesavage enjoyed his best collegiate season, going 11-1 with a 2.03 ERA in 93.1 innings.

After a strong freshman season as a reliever in Greenville, Yesavage spent his summer with the Tom Sox, where he was a catalyst on the mound for the 2022 Valley League Champions. In seven appearances (five starts), Yesavage tossed 26 innings and finished the summer with a 1.73 ERA, playing a big role earning him an All-Valley League selection.

Once Yesavage takes the mound for the Blue Jays, he will become the seventh Tom Sox player to appear in a major league game, and he will joinWyatt Langford(Rangers),Kyle Nicolas(Pirates), andVinnie Pasquantino(Royals) as former ‘Sox actively in the major leagues.CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.– Former Tom Sox pitcherTrey Yesavageis headed to the show!
